Everyday while we stroll on the street we see a lot of people begging for money. Sometimes based on their looks, we
put ourselves into sadness as they beg with their hands and expressions from their faces. In short ang tawag sakanila ay "beggars" or "pulubi".
We don't know the stories behind those people around the corner
But look at this man. . . .as posted from Facebook by Faith Ares sharing her story she encountered while walking around the mall. She's from Cebu a law student at University of San Carlos.
Accordingly, a 70 yrs old Jansen Locsin from Bacolod approached Faye Ares then he said,
"Miss, I'm sorry but I have to tell you something. Please don't get mad. And Sorry to bother you but I'm not gonna ask for money, I'll be asking for food to eat 'coz I'm hungry."She was in awe... with that man's appearance he could speak in English Fluently?
Ares was helpless by looking at Tatay. . .So she invited him to Jollibee with his charm.
While they were eating, they exchanged a conversation and he even mentioned that he graduated from Ateneo De Manila University(ADMU). He took up economics and was a former professor from the same school and at University of the Philippines(UP).
Ares asked how he ended up being a poor then he said that he came to Cebu for a foreign exchange(FOREX) business but everything went wrong 'till he got bankrupt. When he was financially struggling he tried to ask for help from a priest in order for him to go home in Manila but unfortunately he wasn't there. He even uttered that Mayor Tomas Osmeña was his friend way back in Manila allegedly took up agro-economics at Ateneo. Ares asked him why he didn't approached Mayor Tomas but he hesitated because everything changes.
The conversation still goes on while Ares leaving her astonished by the man's insights and fluent English.
Does Tatay for real or just a CON-Artist?
There are a lot of stories we read around the internet but some of them are hoax. Though there are people who are credulous while others are in doubt.
Look at what the citizen's comments from the story posted by Faye Ares on her account:
With regards to this post some people found it dubious.
Subsequently, the community from Bacolod reiterated that the Locsin family were an elite or mayayaman. That raises the attention of Facebook users while the man conveys his name as Jansen Locsin. Of course, there is no clear evidence to support this claim whether the man is true to himself or not.
There are even people encountered the same man:
This makes the background of the old man as make-believe scenario. Yet, we still don't know what really this old man doing around. . .
What we really don't understand is that with that kind of man's status (Degree Holder), from the time he struggled or lost his business isn't it easier for him to ask for help or find somewhere to earn even small amount of money by then he can recover from all his loss? There are a ways we can do when it comes to hardship (financial problem):
- Service
- Sell goods
But the point of this situation is that you contributed something great in your life that will be place into your memory forever. Just like what Faith Faye did to this old man.
I remember this saying:
